Its global humanitarian programs provide food distribution, retraining programs, schools, libraries, orphanages, clinics, homes for unwed mothers, financial support during natural disasters, and human advocacy. Locations range from eight African countries to Afghanistan, Bosnia, Columbia, Ecuador, India, Iraq, Kosovo, and Sri Lanka.
Most people don’t know this, but before all this began I lived as a monk for 3 years and built philanthropic ventures. Today I am a host, storyteller, viral content creator and experiment maker. It’s been a mission of mine to spread knowledge at the pace we want entertainment, something I like to call making wisdom go viral. Since launching my channel in 2016, I’ve garnered over 1 billion views and 10+ million followers.
An eminent representative within diverse religious traditions and harbingers of world peace, in February 2012 Dr. Beckwith addressed the United Nations General Assembly as part of its annual World Interfaith Harmony Week. As co-founder and president of the Association for Global New Thought, he had the distinguished honor of presenting to Nelson Mandela the Gandhi King Award. Along with Arun Gandhi, the grandson of India’s legendary leader, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Beckwith is international co-chair of the Gandhi King Season for Nonviolence, which was launched at the United Nations in 1998 and is active in 900 cities across 67 countries. About its mission, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has said: “Both Gandhi and Martin Luther King are inspiring examples of the power and truth of nonviolence and the actions that arise from them. The Season for Nonviolence is a very good tool to remind us of their witness, and also the large unfinished work we have together in transforming awareness on our planet.”
Dr. Beckwith is a sought after meditation teacher, conference speaker, and facilitator of the Life Visioning ProcessTM, which he originated. In 2014 Beckwith addressed the prestigious TED (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) conference. Three of his most recent books—Life Visioning, Spiritual Liberation, and TranscenDance Expanded—are recipients of the prestigious Nautilus Award. He has appeared on SuperSoul Sunday, Dr. Oz, The Oprah Winfrey Show, OWN Help Desk, OWN’s SuperSoul Sessions, Tavis Smiley, Larry King Live, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and in his own PBS Special, The Answer Is You and is a member of Oprah’s prestigious inaugural SuperSoul 100. Every Friday at 1 pm PST, thousands tune into his weekly KPFK radio show, Wake Up! The Sound of Transformation.
Agape International Spiritual Center
In 1986, Michael Bernard Beckwith founded the Agape International Spiritual Center, a trans-denominational community of thousands of local members and global live streamers. Highly regarded for its cultural, racial, and spiritual diversity, the late Coretta Scott King wrote to Beckwith, “I greatly admire what you are doing to bring about the Beloved Community, which is certainly what my dear husband worked for and ultimately gave his life.”
Since its doors opened in 1986, Agape’s active teaching and practice of the New Thought-Ancient Wisdom tradition of spirituality has expanded into a trans-denominational movement and community of 9,000 local members and 1,000,000 friends worldwide. Through Dr. Beckwith’s weekly services, Agape’s University of Transformational Studies and Leadership classes, ministries and other outreach programs, the heart of Agape reaches deep into local and global communities teaching individuals about the transforming, healing power of prayer, meditation, and selfless service.
